    This toe-tappin' collection of tunes celebrates Ottawa Valley stepdance music. Over the years, as I've journeyed down my own yellow brick road, these have been some of my favourite tunes to play & dance to. The music is an eclectic blend of traditional & contemporary Celtic tunes including some home grown Canadian compositions. I was so fortunate to have an incredible group of musicians on this album. Their creativity & enthusiasm really brought the music to life, and we enjoyed putting new twists on some old melodies! The crowd pleasing clog-jig-reel is the standard Ottawa Valley dance set. It likely began in the 1960's at Ontario fiddle & stepdance contests to compare dancers' variety of steps, ability to dance to various tempos, and of course, endurance.
    As an art form, Ottawa Valley stepdancing continues to evolve since its humble beginnings in 18th century lumber camps thanks to Donnie Gilchrist, Buster Brown, Gilles Roy, and the generations of teachers/students who have followed in their footsteps. Well, there you have it... over 300 years of history with stepdance pioneers, talented musicians, and dedicated supporters, bringing countless hours of joy to so many - a phenomenon that can only be described one way -
